Healing through
understanding.

Research at the intersection of inclusive couples therapy, intergenerational trauma, and psychological well-being. Bridging Western psychology with global perspectives to build more compassionate, evidence-based practice.

Research focus

Inclusive Couples Therapy

Adapting the Relationship Checkup — an evidence-based couple assessment — to affirm and respond to the unique stressors of sexual minority couples, including minority stress, disclosure, and heteronormative assumptions in therapy.

Intergenerational Trauma

Examining how trauma transmits across generations through family systems, cultural narratives, epigenetic mechanisms, and attachment patterns — with particular attention to marginalized communities and pathways to collective healing.

Grit, Gratitude & Well-being

Investigating how perseverance and gratitude interact to shape subjective well-being in college students — with implications for positive psychology interventions in educational settings.

Psychological Skill Training

Studying how structured skill training — goal-setting, visualization, self-talk, and arousal regulation — builds grit and hardiness while reducing anxiety and burnout. Applying sport psychology techniques to everyday resilience.
